Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India launched in 2014 on October 2nd [B’day of Mahatma Gandhi] for a cleaner India. Together with Nurture Nature Global, an NGO dedicated to creating awareness on combating climate change & environment protection by bringing impact through smaller actions, we are hosting an event in order to identify the connection between trash and climate change, and brainstorm ways in which we as individuals can make a difference.
We’ll start off with an introduction followed by a skype call with Dr. Aniruddha Rajput [Chairman, Drafting Committee of United Nations International Law Commission], followed by a discussion covering themes such as:
Why a trash walk? What’s the connection between trash and climate change?
Climate change a brief overview of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
How can we contribute to SDGs as individuals?
Afterwards, we’ll hold a trash walk – although Maastricht isn’t known for being trash abundant, we know of a couple of areas that could use our help. We’ll spend about an hour walking together with some music to help us keep up the trash picking pace! Let’s connect youth through nature all while cleaning up our city!
